This week we are celebrating the new 2024 Christmas release.  You can view all the new products here.  There will be samples and a chance to win a prize each day.  We hope you will stop by from Monday, August 3rd- Friday, August 7th to see the new products and enter to win some of the latest release.

Because I live in the Pine Tree State, when I saw the pine-themed dies in the 2024 Christmas Collection I had to have them all!  I love the pinecone and tassel (Maine's state flower) Merry Christmas card I made for this post.

  • Juniper notecard
  • pretty plaid papers from ios全局伕理软件
  • brown and green striped and dotted papers from GARLAND STRIPES AND DOTS 6X6 PP1011
  • three shades of brown cardstock
  • PINECONE STACKERS 94486
  • FOREST PINE BRANCH 94481
  • POINTY PINE NEEDLE SPRIGS 94487
  • SPECIAL MERRY CHRISTMAS 94499
  • gold foil paper from POLISHED FOIL PAD 6X6 FP1001
  • Scor-Tape

I started this card by die cutting everything multiple times, placing the pieces in each envelope with the die.

My biggest challenge was assembling the pinecones after cutting all of them from three shades of brown cardstock.  Throwing them all together in the envelope was not the best idea.

What I ended up doing was placing each of the pieces from one shade of brown back onto the die and attaching a narrow piece of Scor-Tape down the center to hold the pieces in size order.

I then put another piece of Scor-Tape sticky side up on my work surface and chose pieces from each color to create the different pine cones, working from the smallest at the bottom to the top.

Once I had my pinecones assembled, I took the branch that I had die cut from the brown striped paper and attached just the pine needle clusters snipped from the branch that I had cut using one of the green plaid papers, laying them right on top of the brown ones.

I had already chosen another plaid paper, cut it to 4 X 5 1/4, and adhered it to a top-folded Juniper notecard.  I added the branch and tucked in a small pinecone.

For the sentiment on the card front, I chose gold foil paper which I backed with a large rectangle of Scor-Tape (I purchased some in sheets) and used the Special Merry Christmas die.  That adhered easily in the lower right corner.

Inside the card I added the leftover piece of plaid paper from the front, a larger pine cone, and two Pointy Pine Needle Sprigs.

I think this card will have to go to a native Mainer living in another part of the country as a reminder of home.  This will be a busy month for me as I use the new Memory Box 2024 Holiday Collection to get most of my holiday cards made.  Friends have challenged me to make a card every day in August.  We'll see.  I'm already behind!

Be sure to share your holiday cards with us for this month's Challenge which is posted here.  We love to see what you create!

Would you like a chance to win the new Pinecone Stackers die?  Leave a comment to this post by Sunday, August 9th at 11:59pm EST.  One comment will be chosen at random to win the die.  Winners from the blitz will be posted on the Outside the Box blog on Monday, August 10th at 6pm EST.  Good luck!  One comment/entry per person per day.

Set the Single Pine Landscape Frame into a Christmas Plaid offcut and create a simple guy card for the men on your list.  The card is simple...not the guy!  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with another 2024 Christmas Collection design for you.

Cut the green and white plaid background from the new Christmas Plaid 6x6 set - we're using the offcut here.  Place the offcut in the frame and tape the plaid and watercolor paper together on the reverse side.  Attach it to a green slimline card (3-½" x 8-⅜").

Cut three of the Singing Birds from the red glitter cardstock in the new Holiday Glitter 6x6.  Attach them to the card - use foam tape for the center and right birds.

Prep the Celebrate Cursive Script die by rubbing it briskly with a piece of scrunched waxed paper to help release the diecut. Cut Celebrate Cursive Script from the red sheet in the new Polished Foil Pad.  It's easy to cut delicate designs with this special foil and you won't have to remove those stringy threads.  Attach the shimmery greeting to the card...and that's it!

I love slimline cards and how they can surprise someone who thinks the business-sized envelope they've received is just another bill or "special offer."  See the new dies, printed papers, foil, glitter cardstock, embossing folders and glitter glue here, write your wishlist, then visit or order your holiday designs.

Thanks for visiting!

A Special Merry Christmas with a Small Pine Tree Collage by Jean Okimoto

Cool winter wishes continue with more great new designs from our 2024 Holiday Collection.  It's the perfect mix of classic, contemporary, glittery, shimmery and artsy elements for Christmas crafting.  Hi, Jean Okimoto here with a little bit of everything from our latest release.

Cut the corner berries and greenery print from the new Garland 6x6 with the largest Wrapped Stitch Rectangles die.  Prep the Small Pine Tree Collage die by rubbing it briskly with a piece of scrunched waxed paper - to make it easier to remove the cardstock after diecutting.  Cut the collage.  Instead of pulling the diecut away from the offcuts - gently wiggle the offcuts away from the diecut.

Attach a piece of Poppystamps' Snowspeckle Wide Washi Tape to a top-folded green A-2 card - position it to fill the oval cutout.  Attach the diecut rectangle.

Prep the Special Merry Christmas die with waxed paper and cut the lighter red glitter cardstock from the new Holiday Glitter Pad.  Attach it with tiny dots of Aleene's Original Tacky Glue.

Punch ¼" circles of the gold Holiday Glitter Pad cardstock.

Shake the new Ruby Crystal Glitter Glue to blend the contents, then squeeze a large drop onto scrap paper.  Use a skewer to add dots of Ruby Crystal to several leaf clusters.  Set the card aside to dry the glue.

It's a week of celebrations here with our holiday release  - and the 33rd birthday of Impress Cards and Crafts.  Join the party and shop the Impress online store for a special 20% savings (excluding class kits, custom stamps and items on sale)  on July 30 and 31.  It's a great time to stock up on papercrafting supplies for your holiday and year-round projects.  Here's the sale promo code - happy33.

Thanks for visiting - see you again this weekend with another holiday idea!

Adding Dimension to your Embossing Folders
by Laura Fulcher

Greetings friends. Today I want to share a card made with the other new embossing folder.  This time I ran the folder through the machine twice so that I had a base of the entire poinsettia and then a second piece that allowed me to cut out the flower petal section by hand.  I wanted to add this step so that the poinsettia could have some extra dimension.  I also really like the look of the petals hanging over the edges of the frame.  If you were making lots of holiday cards, you might want to cut out this part to make the card making process much faster.

I placed my poinsettia piece over some of the new Memory Box patterned paper.  One of the 6" x 6" packs is filled with holiday plaids and the other has holiday florals.  The best part is the two sets of patterns coordinate with each other, so it is easy to play with matching patterns that you might not normally pair with each other.  I really liked how the flowers looked with the plaid.

Once again, I added my sentiment with some of the new foil paper.

Do you have any questions about using the 3-D embossing folders?  I would be happy to help...just leave a comment in the post.

Greetings friends. Memory Box has a new holiday release with dies, papers, embossing folders and glitter glue.  Hooray!  If you want to see the full collection you can find it here.  One of the things I am most excited about is the new 3-D embossing folders.  They give such incredible dimension.  I would like to share a card today and one tomorrow using the two new designs.

One of the things I love about the embossing folders is that you can crank out really beautiful Christmas cards in a short amount of time.  This is definitely a great idea for anyone who makes 20 + cards.

To make this card, I lightly sprtized my cream cardstock with water and placed it inside the embossing folder.  The light about of water really helps your cardstock from cracking.

Next, I ran my folder through my Big Shot machine.  I opened the base plate to the embossing folder section and then ran my folder through the machine using only one of the two clear plates.  The 3-D folders are thicker than other embossing folders, so you will only need one plate.

I layered my piece onto some new Memory Box glitter and plaid paper.  Finally, I added my sentiment with the new foil paper.  The foil paper is incredible.  It is thin enough to cut out really detailed dies, but it is also thick enough that it is easy to adhere to your card with glue and without any buckling.  I think it is my favorite new product of the release!

Here is a close up of the card:

Have a great week everyone!

Sprinkle Dots Peony Joy
by Anne Thompson

This is my last holiday card this month before I start using products from the new 2024 Christmas release which you will be able to see on the Memory Box site TODAY!

I made today's Christmas-in-July card with Memory Box supplies from previous collections.  It all started because I had a peony left from a previous project that I wanted to incorporate, I had found a package of Holly Berry notecards with last year's Christmas stamps and dies as I was rummaging through things, and I knew I wanted to use a favorite stencil to create the background.

Emboss and Distress the Garden Party Floral Corner by Jean Okimoto

Blend the warm colors of a summer sunset onto Open Studio Watercolor Paper and add 3D embossing to create a floral card for any occasion.  Hello, Jean Okimoto here with another Garden Party Collection design before we introduce you to our 2024 Holiday Collection.

Cut the smoother side of Open Studio Watercolor Paper with the 4" Square Basics die.  Spritz it with a light mist of water and sponge it with overlapping layers of Distress Oxides.  I've used spun sugar, squeezed lemonade and dried marigold here - but any combination of your favorite soft pastels would work for this design.

Air-dry the inks.  Moisten the reverse side of the paper with another quick spritz of water to prep it for embossing.  Emboss it with the Floral Corner 3D Embossing Folder using the plate(s) required for your machine.  Here's what I used for my Platinum - thick base platform, folder with the watercolor paper (inked side up) and two layers of 80# cardstock.  No embossing mats or plates.

Place the embossed paper on a smooth, hard surface and distress it with sandpaper or a sanding block.  I used #180 sandpaper and short, light upward strokes. Remove the residue with a tissue.  Attach it to a side-folded 5-½" square white card.

Stamp the greeting - from the Peony Garden Corner Clear Stamp and Die Set - on white cardstock with Melon Fresh Ink.  Heat-emboss it with detail clear powder.  Cut the top and two sides with the 2-½" Square Basics die, then trim the bottom edge.  Attach it with foam tape.

Color the white glitter sheet from the Delicate Pastel Glitter Pad with a Copic, Sharpie or Zebra Mildliner pen.  Punch ¼" accent dots.

Distress Oxide Inks on Black Card Stock
by Michelle Bala

Hello there! Michelle here. This is my last card created with The Garden Party Release! I can't wait to start playing with the newest Christmas Release! I really love the stencil Leafy Jumble! I adhered it to a piece of black card stock and used distress oxide inks in shades picked raspberry, carved pumpkin, cracked pistachio and mermaid lagoon.  I splattered the stenciled background with white and gold paints.

I inked up some black card stock with the same distress oxide inks and die cut the sentiment die, Best Wishes Banner Script, and Scribble Leaf Die Cut.

I adhered all the die cuts to the stenciled panel and adhered the panel to a black card base. For a finishing touch I added some gems.

Thanks for stopping by for a peek!

Have a great weekend!
